We acknowledge the following guidelines of providing good consumer information on child development:
- We will include peer-reviewed sources in our posts.
- We recognize that science is an organized body of knowledge that accumulates over time and, consequently, changes and grows as new information is discovered.
- We will be wary of generalizations, recognizing that our experiences may not be representative of the average person. And, conversely, recognizing that conclusions drawn from research may not describe our own personal experiences.
- We recognize that preconceptions about child development can influence learning new information.
- We recognize that child development is much more than common sense and folk wisdom.
